Longnecks Prevail, 6-4, Over Houston
|
The Bloomington Longnecks beat the Houston BC, 6-4, at Houston Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Masafumi Ito, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Earning his 19th save for Bloomington was Keith Rojas. Houston's current losing streak has reached 7 games.
Santiago, Dominican Republic-born Martín Martínez came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Longnecks trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Bloomington on top.
"I like the roll we're on," said Bloomington manager Jorge Silva.
