Disaster Win in Extras
Port Royal beat Vermont at Monster Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Ricky Payton, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 6 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Port Royal reliever Alfredo Hernández picked up the win to move to 2-2. Orlando De Jesús suffered the loss. Port Royal is now 18-30, Vermont 24-24.

The critical at-bat for Port Royal came in the top of the 15th inning. With two out, Payton drew a walk, driving in 1 run, putting Port Royal up, 6-5.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Payton.
