Braves Top BC to Even Record
|
The Houston BC got a superb performance from catcher Phil Dougherty. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Gryfindor. The Braves won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Dougherty was named the player of the game. He was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Juan Contreras picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 5-0. Marv Bradford earned the save, his 3rd, for the Braves.
Gryfindor grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Kelly Brown delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Braves.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Brown told the Gryfindor Times.
Gryfindor is now 23-23, while Houston is 16-30.
