Victory Over Halberds Takes Bloomington to 35-8
|
The Bloomington Longnecks topped the Alloway Halberds by the score of 8-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Arturo Acevedo. Acevedo went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Longnecks on the day. Gabriel Valenzuela got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Halberds to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The Longnecks improved to a lofty 35-8.
Toussiant L'Ouverture drew 1 walk for Bloomington. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off José Trejo. It was his 24th walk of the season.
"I really like what we did out there today," Acevedo said after the game.
