Tight Tilt Goes to Drummers, 3-2
|
The Tortolita Drummers did just enough to sneak past the Bloomington Longnecks, 3-2, at Drummers Ballpark. Tortolita shortstop Lloyd Alberink earned player of the game honors. The win was credited to Rex Hood in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Vicente Escamilla took the loss. Earning his 6th save of the year was Briggs Bourgeois.
Alberink had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 cutter from Vicente Escamilla, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Drummers a 3-1 lead. It was the 44th hit of the year for Alberink.
"I felt good up there," said Alberink. "I saw the ball well."
The Drummers now have a mark of 22-18.
