Walk-Off Victory for Disaster Takes Record to 9-22
|
Athletic Club KC got a terrific performance from pitcher Sook Sung-Man, but it wasn't enough to beat the Port Royal Disaster. Port Royal won the Ballpark of Port Royal contest, 6-5. Sung-Man was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Port Royal reliever Jackson Haines picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Fred Pitts was saddled with the loss. Even with the win, the Disaster have a dismal 9-22 record.
Port Royal won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Fred Pitts on the mound for Athletic Club KC, third baseman Winston Sparks hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Disaster fans to their feet.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Sparks told a Port Royal Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
