With catcher Jerry Yates leading the charge, the Alloway Halberds defeated the Tortolita Drummers, 6-3, at Ballpark of Alloway. Yates, who is tied for 10th in the SAAA in RBI with 15, was 2-4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times. At 12-10, Alloway is in 5th place in the Silver AAA.
Had Bryan Clifton not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Clifton hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 6-3, in favor of the Halberds.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Yates told the Alloway Observer.
