Victory Over Halberds Takes Bloomington to 19-1
|
The Bloomington Longnecks eked out a 5-4 win versus the Alloway Halberds at Lookouts Ballpark. Nobody did more than center fielder Keith Alexander, who captured player of the game honors. Bloomington reliever Dustin Richmond picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Gilberto Ramírez shouldered the loss. The Longnecks, now 19-1, have been red hot.
Gabrio Campoverde had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the Longnecks. Coming up with the bases loaded and Bloomington trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Alloway manager Santiago Vargas. "The effort was great."
