Jiménez Delivers Walk-Off Win for Lake Monsters
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a stellar effort from pitcher Santo Velazco, helping Vermont score a 2-1 win over the visiting Tremont Doubledays. Vermont reliever Javier Matajudíos picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Denis Melis absorbed the loss. Vermont is now 11-5.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Vermont first baseman Gilberto Jiménez, facing Denis Melis, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Lake Monsters the 2-1 win.
"I like our resilience," said Jiménez.
