Penrice Goes Wild, But Longnecks Win
|
Gryfindor first baseman Paul Penrice pounded Bloomington Longnecks pitchers at Cayuse Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Braves from falling, 9-6. Penrice went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Bloomington reliever Nick Taylor picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Fred Gunther took the loss. The Longnecks, now 7-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Longnecks beat the Braves in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Billy Dotson produced in the top of the fourth. Batting against Gryfindor pitcher Fred Gunther, Dotson gave his team a 8-4 lead when he hit a grand slam.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Jorge Silva.
