Reserves Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Drummers Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2030 USSL Triple A season. On the mound was Sook Sung-Man for the visiting Athletic Club KC Reserves and Enrique Cortéz for the hometown Tortolita Drummers. In a spirited contest, the Reserves pulled out the win, defeating the Drummers by the score of 5-4. Earning player of the game honors was Lloyd Alberink.
Iván Chacón aided the Athletic Club KC cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Chacón said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
