Thundercats Top Hotspur Behind Gonzáles, 1-0
|
The Richardson City Thundercats got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jesús Gonzáles, who muffled the Phoenix offense en route to a tight 1-0 Thundercats win at The Thunder Dome. Robinson Gonzáles got credit for the save for Richardson City. It was his 1st of the year. Richardson City is now 20-30, Phoenix 23-27.
Gonzáles, a native of La Vega, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Phoenix hitters off-balance, while giving the Thundercats 7 quality innings. Gonzáles threw 86 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Richardson City manager Imran Kopitar said.
