Smalls Helps Blue Sox Run Win Streak to 4
|
The Springfield Shooters and Irving Blue Sox cranked it up at Springfield Stadium.
The Irving Blue Sox dealt the Springfield Shooters a 10-4 loss at Springfield Stadium. Scotty Smalls was the star on offense. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. John Ball got the win, improving to 3-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
The Blue Sox got a big at-bat from center fielder Bartolo Soto. For the game, Soto was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 137th hit of the season gave Irving a 6-4 lead.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Smalls.
