Seawolves Nip Shooters, 7-6

The Springfield Shooters got a superb performance from pitcher Geoff Stackhouse. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Long Island. The Seawolves won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, Stackhouse was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. John Kraan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 10 save opportunities. Long Island, at 39-43, occupies 7th place in the Silver AA.
Long Island took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, right fielder Emanuel Bree hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Enjoyed this one," Bree told the Long Island Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
