Seawolves Clip Misfits in Tight Contest
|
The Long Island Seawolves faced a tough opponent in Salem pitcher Enrique Valle, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Remsen by a final score of 4-3. Valle went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Long Island reliever Eric Foster got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Justin Furneaux was tagged with the loss. John Kraan closed the game out for Long Island, earning his 6th save.
Had Rob McGinnity not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, McGinnity hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Seawolves.
"I really like what we did out there today," McGinnity said after the game.
Long Island is now 33-31.
