Rapiers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Salem, 4-3
|
The Salem Misfits got a superb performance from pitcher William Fothergill, but the Durham Rapiers still won the game, 4-3. Fothergill was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Durham is now 31-27.
Carlos Evangelho was the walk-off hero for Durham. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rapiers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Evangelho.
