Big Day by Thomas Ignites Seawolves Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from DeAndre Thomas, the Long Island Seawolves defeated the Lancaster Farmers, 7-3. Thomas went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Seawolves. Júlio González was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Long Island, at 29-27, sits in 6th place in the Silver AA.
Thomas had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Benedicto Castellon, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Seawolves a 4-3 lead. It was the 35th hit of the year for Thomas.
Thomas told the Long Island Citizen: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
