Farmers Come Up Short at Durham
|
Durham Rapiers starter Lance de Valk pitched a strong game against the Lancaster Farmers at Rapiers Ballpark, leading the Rapiers to a 4-3 win. de Valk, now 4-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Durham.
Tomás Costello, who is tied for 3rd in the SAA in runs scored with 24, aided the Durham cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman went 2 for 2 with a double and a walk.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Costello told the Durham Gazette.
