Blue Sox Clip Shooters in Tight Contest

The Irving Blue Sox faced a tough opponent in Springfield pitcher Gabriel Valenzuela, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Blue Sox Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Valenzuela went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Irving reliever Willie Simmons picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Otte Leuthold was saddled with the loss. The Shooters fall to 5-6 and continue their wobbly start to the 2030 season.
It could have been a different outcome for Irving, had it not been for Carlos Ávila, the 24-year old catcher . Ávila contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Irving up, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said Springfield manager John Carney. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
