Sixshooters Subdue Durham, 5-3
|
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Richard Cutshall, the Westwood Sixshooters defeated the Durham Rapiers, 5-3. Cutshall was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times for the Sixshooters. Westwood reliever Alfonso Santa Maria picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bill Minor was saddled with the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Rapiers, who are now 7-3.
Westwood took the lead in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Phil Minor stroked a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Sixshooters.
Minor told a Westwood Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
