Shooters Win at San Antonio, 4-1
|
Springfield and San Antonio duked it out at San Antonio Field and the Shooters came out victorious.
Springfield Shooters starter Tod Whipple turned in a top-notch performance against the San Antonio BC at San Antonio Field. The result was a win for the Shooters, 4-1. In 6 innings, Whipple surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Gabriel Valenzuela picked up the save for Springfield, his 2nd of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Springfield, had it not been for César Gómes, the 19-year old center fielder . Gómes contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Springfield up, 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said San Antonio manager Tomás Medina.
The Shooters, now 5-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
