Springfield Shooters starter Tod Whipple was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Lancaster Farmers, 4-3. The winner was Springfield reliever Otte Leuthold, now 1-0. The loser was Sergio Zamora. Roy Gartner earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

Eun-bum Kim's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Springfield. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Springfield leading 2-1, the third baseman reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.

"If we keep winning the close games," Kim said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."

Springfield, now 2-0, has played well in the early going.
