Callison Slugs Rainbow Mermaids to 9-3 Win
|
A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Brett Callison, the 16 overall pick in the 2021 draft, led the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids to a 9-3 win over the Phoenix Hotspur. Javier Desdin got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Hotspur to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. With the win, Northern Virginia has a record of 22-15. Phoenix falls to 17-20.
Callison came through with some timely hitting for Northern Virginia. With the score 3-2 in the top of the fifth and no one down, Callison hit a 1-2 changeup for a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 4-2, Northern Virginia.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Callison.
