Timber Hawks Raise Rally Flag, Beat Santa Barbara, 7-5
|
The Augusta Timber Hawks defeated the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was third baseman Dave Yates, who was 3-5 with a home run, a triple, and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nick Mason got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Augusta has now won 3 straight, while the Golden Cranes have lost 3 in a row.
Yates had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-2 fastball from Seung-yeop Kim, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Timber Hawks a 7-5 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Yates.
"It was a solid team effort," said Yates after the game.
