Late Rally by Flyers Secures Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Pennsauken Flyers eventually prevailed at Pennsauken Park.
The Pennsauken Flyers picked up a win at Pennsauken Park, knocking off the Florida Men, 5-4. Starting pitcher Matt Davenport, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Mau Delgado picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Earl Simmons was tagged with the loss.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Pennsauken trailing 4-3, Pedro Ortega hit a changeup from Earl Simmons to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Flyers had a walk-off win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Ortega, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The win puts the Flyers at 30-49, while the Men drop to 35-44.
