Grey Wolves Come Back Late to Top Hotspur
|
The Phoenix Hotspur got a superb performance from left fielder Francisco García, but the Vancouver Grey Wolves still won the game, 6-3. García was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Reliever Francisco Valdés picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Adam Garrison took the loss. Vancouver is now 17-13, Phoenix 14-16.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman Preston Witt, who is tied for 10th in the PL in home runs with 6, hit a single. The Grey Wolves went on to win.
"We'll savor this win," Witt told the Vancouver Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
