Boston designated hitter Jorge Velázquez was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Velázquez, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in home runs with 10, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Patriots. Boston, at 13-16, sits in 8th place in the Premier League.

Velázquez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Boston in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Velázquez took a cutter from Prince Nakamura and stroked the home run to left. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Patriots to leap in front, 5-4.

In postgame comments to the Boston News, Velázquez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
