Men Edge Red Pandas, 6-5
|
A 5-RBI performance from center fielder Jim Halpert, who is rated as the 66th best prospect by BNN, led the Florida Men to a 6-5 win over the Sioux Falls Red Pandas. Florida reliever Jason Millward got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Olivier Carlier was tagged with the loss. Florida has a record of 4-6.
Halpert contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for Florida in the bottom of the 13th. With his team trailing 5-4, Halpert took a fastball from Olivier Carlier and stroked the single to right. His 17th hit of the season allowed the Men to leap in front, 6-5.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Halpert.
