Belugas Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Coyote Wildlife Refuge, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2030 M3L Triple A season. On the mound was Alejandro Araya for the visiting Brinkley Belugas and Manny Castro for the hometown Hamilton Coyotes. In a spirited contest, the Belugas pulled out the win, defeating the Coyotes by the score of 3-2. Earning player of the game honors was Tony Rodríguez. António Rúbio closed the game out for Brinkley, earning his 1st save.
William O'Keefe, the three overall pick in the 2026 draft, aided the Brinkley cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said O'Keefe.
