Fog Shut Out Dodos
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Hialeah Dodos home opener. Blaine Stottlar started for the home team against Francisco Chávez for the Sunset District Fog. The Dodos were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-0, Sunset District. Francisco Chávez was named player of the game. In 5 innings, Chávez surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Emílio Mavarro closed the game out for Sunset District, earning his 1st save.
The Fog got a big at-bat from third baseman Esteban Vázquez. For the game, Vázquez was 2-3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Sunset District a 2-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Chávez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
