Oaks Top 84s in 12
|
The Greenville 84s got a superb performance from pitcher Eric Matson, but the Oakland Oaks still won the game, 4-2. Matson was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Oakland reliever José Castaneda was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Quintiliano Seixal took the loss. Chris Lynskey closed the door for Oakland, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Alfonso Nazario in the top of the 12th had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Oaks leading 3-2, the Oakland right fielder hit a double.
Nazario attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Oakland is now 13-14.
