The Oakland Oaks got a good effort from starter Mal Houser in defeating the Toledo Stingers at Pacesetter Park. The final score was 4-2. Houser, the winner, moves to 5-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Earning his 5th save of the year was José Castaneda.
Oakland center fielder Armando Rodríguez helped the Oaks go up, 2-1, in the top of the fifth inning. With the game tied, Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single off Toledo pitcher Enrique Castro.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Houser said.
The Oaks saw their win-loss record go to 11-12. At the same time, the Stingers fell to 15-8.
