Gold Sox Raise Rally Flag, Beat Boston, 7-5
|
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Lúcio Sánchez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Gold Sox. Chicago won the Gold Sox Field contest, 7-5. Sánchez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Chicago reliever Dan Crowder was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Jorge Aguirre took the loss for Boston. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Gold Sox.
Had Manuel Guillama not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Guillama hit a grand slam. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Gold Sox.
