The exploits of designated hitter Melvin Castro, who won the Outstanding Hitter Award in 2021, helped the Montana Pandas defeat the Chicago Hawks, 4-2. Castro was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Earning his 1st save of the year was Kazu Omori. The win lifts Montana to a record of 4-2.

Castro had a big at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Pandas went on to win.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Alan Starwood.
