Ft. Worth pitcher Dave Reed did his part in helping his team beat the New Amsterdam Dutchmen, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ft. Worth, at 52-42, occupies third place in the Silver League.
Had Rick Mayfield not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Mayfield hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cattlemen.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Mayfield.
