Irving Snaps Zúñiga's Streak at 29
Monday, July 16th, 2029
For 29 straight games, António Zúñiga tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 24-year-old Minnesota Loons second baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Irving Blue Sox. The Blue Sox held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Blue Sox Ballpark today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 29.

There was at leas one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Loons took the win by the score of 9-2.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Zúñiga is hitting .351 this year with 1 home run and 34 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .415, 27 walks and scored 40 times.
