Jersey City Stakes 1-0 Series With Walk-off win
|
The Jersey City Tritons started the PL AAA Championship in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Bakersfield Nobles in a walk-off. Jersey City won 3-2 behind a good day from starter Prince Nakamura. The right-hander threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs in the win, which gave the Tritons a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-5 series.
Mike Greene was the walk-off hero for Jersey City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tritons left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring triple to send the teams home.
"This was a good win for us," said Nakamura. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Jersey City. The scheduled starters for the game are Jorge Castillo for the Bakersfield Nobles and Ricardo Rodríguez for the the Jersey City Tritons.
