River Rats Hammered by Manzanares, Fall Further Behind in R1
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Columbia River Rats at Idaho Falls Park by a score of 15-4. Chukars catcher Tony Manzanares was named player of the game after he went 4-4 with a home run, a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The win gives the Chukars a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 PL A Championship.
Idaho Falls center fielder Ernesto Carrión helped the Chukars go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Carrión hit a run-scoring single off Columbia pitcher Marvin Wasmund.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Manzanares. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Game 3 is set to be played Tuesday, September 11th, 2029 at Columbia Stadium. Slated to start are Vicente Romero for Idaho Falls and Giel Overwater for Columbia.
