|
Columbia right-hander Freddie Balduis made an effective start against the Idaho Falls Chukars at Idaho Falls Park, leading his team to a 4-2 win. The winning pitcher was Balduis, now 7-5. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Raúl Valdéz was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 3rd in the top of the eighth inning. Facing Idaho Falls hurler Armando Ríos, Jordan Westacott, who is tied for 8th in the PA in home runs with 7, hit a run-scoring single. The River Rats went on to win.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Columbia skipper Wes Murray.
Columbia is now 57-36.
