Great Day for Bastedo in Blaze Win
|
The South Beach Blaze bested the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 6-2, at The Ballpark on the Beach. Giobbe Bastedo was named player of the game. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. South Beach reliever Sima Babic was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. José Vélez took the loss for Phoenix. The Blaze raised their record to 50-34.
Bastedo had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from José Vélez, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Blaze a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Bastedo.
Bastedo told the South Beach Times: "I was born for the big stage."
