South Beach Hot Streak Continues with 5-1 Win
|
The Hammond Herons got a superb performance from pitcher Ryunosuke Kurota. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Beach. The Blaze won the game, 5-1. In spite of the loss, Kurota was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Sima Babic picked up the save, his 3rd. Hammond's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
In the top of the eighth inning, designated hitter Marcel Escoda came through big-time for the Blaze. With South Beach leading 2-1, he belted a solo home run.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Escoda said after the game.
