Late Rally by River Rats Secures Win
|
The River Rats faced a stiff challenge from Phoenix pitcher Jorge Cruzan, but persevered to claim a win at Columbia Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Cruzan went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The River Rats have an impressive 44-28 record.
Harley Whitfield was the walk-off hero for Columbia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the River Rats first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Whitfield told the Columbia Bulletin.
