Blaze Throttle River Rats, 7-1
|
Columbia had no answer for South Beach Blaze starter Tony Sánchez, who flummoxed River Rats hitters as the Blaze cruised to a 7-1 victory. The Blaze bumped their record to 27-21 with this latest triumph.
Harlan Peppers had a big 2-run double for the Blaze in the bottom of the second inning. With South Beach leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Howard Jamerson and stroked the double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blaze ahead, 3-0.
"It feels good to get that win," said Peppers. "Now it's on to the next one."
