The Gwinnett County Black Cats turned back the South Beach Blaze, 5-4, at The Ballpark on the Beach. Víctor Sánchez was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Rich Choquette was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. Ming-hoa Zhou earned the save for Gwinnett County, his 10th of the year.
Sánchez had a key at-bat for Gwinnett County early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Gwinnett County an early 2-0 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Sánchez said.
Gwinnett County, at 21-24, occupies 6th place in the Premier A.
