River Rats Stymie Idaho Falls, Take 3-1 Win
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars got a superb performance from pitcher Vicente Romero, but the Columbia River Rats still won the game, 3-1. Romero was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. The win was credited to Jim Eisenmenger in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Vicente Romero took the loss. The River Rats have an impressive 27-17 record.
Had Javier Cordero not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cordero hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the River Rats.
"We've got a great group of guys," Cordero said, "and we're having fun right now."
