García Goes Wild, But Blaze Win
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood got a superb performance from center fielder José García. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Beach. The Blaze won the game, 8-7. In spite of the loss, García was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The winner was Tony Sánchez, who threw 72 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits. Earning his 4th save for South Beach was Victor Lustig.
The Blaze beat the Dragonblood in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Serious Lee produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Yellowknife pitcher Roberto Muñóz, Lee gave his team a 7-5 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Lee, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Blaze improved to 20-18.
