Hotspur U-21 Win at Columbia, 5-4
|
Columbia left fielder Jordan Westacott was sensational. He went 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Phoenix beat the River Rats, 5-4. Westacott was named the player of the game despite the loss. Phoenix, at 14-19, occupies 8th place in the Premier A.
The Hotspur U-21 got a big at-bat from second baseman Bill Erickson. For the game, Erickson went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Phoenix a 5-3 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Erickson said.
