River Rats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Cauldrons
The Hogsmeade Cauldrons got a superb performance from center fielder César Ramos, but the Columbia River Rats still won the game, 11-8. Ramos was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Columbia reliever Freddie Balduis picked up the win to move to 1-1. Bogdon Sokolov suffered the loss. Columbia currently is in second place in the Premier A at 14-9.

Had Edgar Castaneda not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Castaneda hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 11-8, in favor of the River Rats.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Columbia manager Wes Murray.
