Black Cats Fall to .500 After Loss to Hotspur U-21
|
Phoenix right-hander Masahiro Sakei made an effective start against the Gwinnett County Black Cats at Hotspur Kiddie Complex, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Jason MacDonald earned the save, his 3rd, for the Hotspur U-21. The Hotspur U-21 have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 4th win in 16 games.
Jason DeGeorge had a big 2-run double for the Hotspur U-21 in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Phoenix trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Efren Rasonable and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hotspur U-21 ahead, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Phoenix manager Juan Sánchez said.
