Tight Tilt Goes to Cauldrons, 3-2
|
The Hogsmeade Cauldrons did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 at Gators Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Ollie McDaniell, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was McDaniell, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Brian Peeks picked up the save, his 3rd.
The Cauldrons got a big at-bat from shortstop Javier López. For the game, López went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Hogsmeade a 2-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," López told the Hogsmeade Gazette.
The Cauldrons, now 4-1, have been playing some good baseball.
